Spotlighting Circularity: Cir4Fun at Babykid Spain + FIMI 2026
The children’s furniture world moved to Valencia last week for Babykid Spain + FIMI. Running from 21 to 23 January, this wasn’t just any trade show, it was a massive 100th-anniversary celebration of the fair, bringing together over 700 brands from across the globe.
It was the perfect place to talk about how we can make the furniture industry a bit more “circular,” and Cir4Fun was right in the mix.
Catching up at the Micuna stand
For anyone walking through Level 3, Pavilion 7, the Micuna booth was hard to miss. As a long-standing partner of the project, Micuna hosted the Cir4Fun presence, giving us a front-row seat to chat with the designers and manufacturers who are building the future of children’s rooms.
What was on show?
The goal was to make the project’s technical work, like Digital Product Passports and Eco-design, feel tangible and accessible. Here is how that looked on the ground:
- On the Screen: A dedicated TV display was a focal point of the stand, proudly sporting the Cir4Fun logo and the project complete name: Advancing European Industrial Sustainability and Competitiveness through Circular Design Strategies, Digital Product Passports, and Sustainable Product-Service Systems in the Furniture Sector.
- In the Hand: There were plenty of flyers for visitors to grab, offering a quick deep dive into how the project is helping the industry move toward more sustainable production.
- In Person: Micuna represented Cir4Fun at their official stand, serving as a point of contact for the project during the event. This presence enabled direct conversations with industry professionals regarding the practicalities of circular manufacturing, specifically, the methods for producing furniture that is more durable and has a lower environmental footprint. It was an effective opportunity to demonstrate how project innovations translate into real-world industry settings.
Why does this matter?
Trade fairs like BKS + FIMI are where the “real world” meets “research.” By showing up at an event of this scale, the project ensures that the tools being developed, like the Furniture Assessment System (FAS), aren’t just staying in a lab. They are being discussed by the people who will use them to make the industry greener.
